COPERNICUS – Automatic watch with planetary constellation display

The NIKOLAUS COPERNICUS is a complex mechanical watch that shows the time, day of the week, date, the energy of the movement and the solar constellation. A disc rotating in 24 hours with a heliocentric planetary image shows the course of the sun in its daily play of colours with sunrise and sunset.

The mechanical and optical highlight of the watch is the 24 hour planet disk, which visualizes the course of the sun and the earth in a 360° scale. The disc is embedded in a multi-layered dial and has symbols for sun and earth, which change from full red (sunrise / sunset) to bright yellow orange (noon) to black (midnight). In particular it helps to distinguish day and night to find the date switching point around midnight comfortly.

In the lower dial position the date display works behind a circular opening. The automatic watch has a power reserve indicator that shows the remaining energy of the movement’s mainspring. In addition, the watch has an indication of the day of the week, making it the most complex mechanical watch in the Kronsegler product range in 2017.

The dial is roman indexed. The hands are cut in a classicist design and filled with Superluminova in the tips. The dial is silver, blue or umbra coloured. The sun discs are adorned with the heliocentric system according to Kopernikus.

The movement is a 28,800 A/H high freqzency movement (4 HZ) mounted on 26 rubies. Once the watch is fully wound it has a power reserve of < 40 hours without further kinetic energy supply. The watch has a diameter of 43 mm, is 12 mm thick and impresses with its distinctive appearence. The watch crystal is made of sapphire. The glass back of the watch is screwed and allows to see the movement. In total there are 5 color combinations. The cases made of 316L stainless steel are silver or yellow gold or rose gold plated (both double layered, IPG + real gold). The leather strap in black, brown or anthracite is thickly padded, embossed, decorated with a KRONSEGLER emblem button and comes with a folding clasp with security lock. The watch is delivered in an exclusive dark green box with a certificate card, 24-page booklet with detailed description and with a polishing cloth.
