DRESDEN GREEN II – Watch series on the history of the world’s largest green diamond in the Dresden Green Vault

In the Dresden Grünes Gewölbe (“Green Vault”), the “Royal Saxon Cabinet of Wonder”, the largest green diamond in the world, the “Dresden Green” (raw mass 119 carats, cut 41 carats), has been resting since 1742. August II of Saxony (also August III of Poland) brought this stone to Dresden, which was originally acquired in London and comes from India or Brazil.

The original Kursachsen coat of arms from 1742, originating from the letters of Friedrich August to the Secret Council, and a green diamond (1.3 mm) adorn the dial of the Dresden Green II watch series.

The DRESDEN GREEN II is the continuation of the limited automatic series Dresden Green from 2007. The watch is equipped with a polished 316L stainless steel case with a radially stepped bezel in steel or yellow or rose gold plating. There are two model sizes in 3 colour variants each – the men’s and unisex version with 41 mm diameter and 10 mm thickness, the women’s version with 36mm diameter and 9.5mm thickness. The watches are equipped with the hardest and most scratch-resistant K1 glass.

The dial of the men’s/unisex version is silver-white (guilloche), very finely scaled and bears the inscriptions “Dresden Green” and the Electoral Saxon coat of arms with the subtext “Königlich Sächsische Wunderkammer 1742” (“Royal Saxon Cabinet of Wonder 1742”). The indices are applied Roman numerals. The highlight of the watch is a green diamond with a 1.3 mm size border. The hands are skeletonized and mounted. The central extra-long second hand bears a KronSegler crown coat of arms at the short end.

The ladies’ version is designed in the same way, but has a dial made of genuine mother-of-pearl and the hands are filled with luminous material. The indexing is printed in Arabic numerals.

The screwed watch back made of stainless steel 316L is engraved with the Kursachsen coat of arms. The watches are equipped with padded and embossed leather straps made of cowhide, which can be easily changed with a quick-release bar. Since 2020 the models in steel have been available with a stainless steel mesh bracelet.

The watch is delivered in a green box with the golden coat of arms, a detailed 20-page brochure on the history, origin and creation, the operating instructions as well as a numbered certificate card and a diamond pass.
