Automatic watch with Traveller GMT – changing time zones made easy

Automatic watches with “real” GMT, such as “Magallanes,” are relatively rare in the price range up to €500. They are not only interesting for lovers of mechanical watchmaking, but also serve an important purpose, especially for travelers.

With the “Fernando de Magallanes,” you can always keep an eye on your home time while conveniently setting the local time wherever you travel and reading it as usual. Thanks to separate hour settings, this can be done quickly and easily with a single movement. The date even switches backwards without any problems when setting the time. The hand for the second time zone remains your anchor to home.

But even in everyday life, away from circumnavigating the globe, cruises, road trips, backpacking tours, or business trips, the watch is a faithful companion.

The dials feature Arabic numerals. The GMT hand for the second time zone is highlighted in color, but its slim shape does not distract from the large main hands. As an alternative to the classic home time, it can serve as a 24-hour display or, for example, be set to the time of a place with which you currently feel a special connection.

The navigator Ferdinand Magellan (Spanish: Fernando de Magallanes) became the unplanned initiator of the first historically documented circumnavigation of the globe while attempting to find a western route to the so-called Spice Islands on behalf of the Spanish crown.

The new KS029.024G automatic movement

The new mechanical movement is a high-frequency oscillator (28,800 vph) mounted on 24 jewels with a Glucydur balance wheel, which is much harder than a nickel or brass balance wheel and can be riveted, balanced, and finely adjusted with exceptional precision.

The crown is easy to grip and allows for effortless adjustment of the watch. The movement has a power reserve of over 40 hours when fully wound. The particularly smooth-running rotor ensures the energy supply.

Equipment and scope of delivery

For the best protection against scratches, the men’s watch is equipped with flat sapphire crystal.

The padded and stitched cowhide leather straps in black or brown feature a Kronsegler crest button and an engraved butterfly clasp with safety pushers. Alternatively, this watch series is also available with a woven stainless steel Milanese bracelet.

The yellow gold model (high-quality double-layer gold-plated with IPG + real gold) is kept warm in color in combination with the dark brown leather strap with golden crest button, making the cornflower blue hands appear particularly contrasting. The silver-white dial provides an elegant, matte sheen.

On the watch case, which is 43 mm in diameter and 11 mm thick, the flat, stepped bezel creates a beautiful play of light with its flowing shape.

The “Fernando de Magallanes” automatic watch is delivered in a Kronsegler watch box with a white polishing cloth, registered warranty certificate card, Kronsegler brand tag, and a detailed booklet and operating instructions for the GMT function.
