TERRA – Transsolar chronograph with solar phase

The TERRA is a complex solar-powered chronograph which displays the time, date and stop minute as well as the energy of the movement and the course of the sun. A rotating disc with a heliocentric image of the planets shows the course of the sun in its daily play of colors with sunrise and sunset on the background of the flat Earth.

The watch is equipped with state-of-the-art transsolar technology. This makes it possible to dispense with open solar cells and gains the necessary energy through a transparent dial that allows any form of light to penetrate the movement. A short-term memory (capacitor) and a long-term memory (battery) are used here. The short-term memory causes the watch to run even with brief exposure to light. The long-term storage system stores energy for 3 – 4 months of continuous operation. The operation of a watch solely through the energy of the ambient light is currently the most sustainable and most accurate alternative to waste-causing classic battery technology and maintenance-intensive pure mechanics that are only accurate within the limits.

The optical highlight of the watch is the 24-hour disc with a heliocentric model of the universe which visualizes the course of the sun in a 360 ° orbit. The disc is embedded in a dial with an image of the earth’s continents and seas and shows the course of the sun that changes from full red (sunrise/sunset) to bright yellow-orange (noon) to black (midnight). It is used in particular to distinguish between day and night and also to correctly select the date switching point at midnight.

The date display and a minute chronograph for timekeeping between 1 and 30 minutes work in the lower dial position. The solar watch has a power reserve display that shows the remaining energy of the movement.

The dial is scaled on a concave inner bezel with dot and line indices. The hands are designed in a straight bar design and filled with luminous material. The dial varies in three color versions in blue/white, black/white and brown/black.

The Japanese SEIKO EPSON solar movement works with 32,768 Hz and provides, thanks to its powerful 5,5 mAh memory, a power reserve of up to 6 months (usually 3 – 4 months).

The 5 ATM water-resistant watch cases are made of 316L stainless steel. With 43 mm in diameter, a thickness of 12 mm, a polished finish and a crown and two pushers on the left side of the case the TERRA is visually appealing. The chronograph pusher is powder-coated in red. The crystal is made of K1, the hardest watch glass (8,5 MOHS). The bottom of the clock is screwed.

The leather strap in black, brown or dark blue is thickly padded, alligator-embossed and has a KronSegler coat of arms button and a pin buckle.

The watch is delivered in an exclusive blue box with a certificate card, a 16-page booklet with a detailed description and a polishing cloth.
