Description

The “Meteorite” model is a giant. With a diameter of 46 mm and a massive case, the wristwatch seems to be able to withstand an asteroid impact. It is made of 316L stainless steel, sapphire crystal and genuine meteorite stone. A total of 812 meteorite fragments were extracted from meteorite GB69-8 from the “Gold Basin”, which adorn the 812 watches. These dials also bear the stylised relief of the crash site. The mechanical movement can be seen working beneath these skeletonised dials. Two radar antennas circle above the impact site as second and 24-hour hands.

The meteorite particles are set at 6 o’clock. The meteorite GB69-8 originates from the Gold Basin, Mohave County, Arizona, USA and struck approx. 14.3 million years ago at 35° 52′ 30 “N, 114° 14′ 0 “W. The stone is an L4 olivine and was found in 1995. The authenticity of the meteorite has been confirmed by METEOLAB (New England Meteoritical Service) in Mendon, USA. It probably originates from the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter and contains the first and therefore oldest heavy chemical elements formed in the solar system by nuclear fusion.

The case of the elaborately designed men’s watch consists of 10 steel parts with PVD ion-plated bezels in different colours. The bezels are screwed in with decorative screws. The strap lugs also have decorative screw heads and matt-etched inner facets. The back is screwed in, has a glass window and is engraved with the geodata of the meteorite and the individual limited edition number of each watch. The water resistance of the automatic watch is 5 ATM.

The dials are broken up into circular segments that reveal the mechanical movement underneath. A large double index filled with Superluminova is positioned at 12 o’clock. The hour and minute hands are skeletonised and filled with luminous material at the tips. Two radar antennae serve as the 24-hour hand and second hand.

The movement operates at 21,600 A/h and is mounted on 21 jewels. The flat watch glass is made of robust sapphire to offer the best possible protection against scratches. The leather straps in black, brown or blue are stitched, padded and alligator-embossed to precisely match the case.

The “Meteorit” is delivered in a large Kronsegler watch box with certificate card, 16-page booklet and polishing cloth.
