DRESDEN GREEN II – Watch series on the history of the world’s largest green diamond

Dresden’s Green Vault, the “Royal Saxon Chamber of Curiosities” (“Königlich Sächsische Wunderkammer”, not far from the Dresden Frauenkirche), has been home to the world’s largest green diamond, the “Dresden Green”, to which this watch series is dedicated since 1742. August II of Saxony (also August III of Poland) brought this stone to Dresden, which was originally acquired in London and came from India or Brazil (rough weight 119 carats, cut 41 carats). The original coat of arms of the Electorate of Saxony from 1742, taken from original writings by Frederick Augustus to the Princely Privy Council, and a 1.3 mm green diamond adorn the dial of the watch series.

The DRESDEN GREEN II is fitted with a polished 316L stainless steel case with a stepped bezel in steel or yellow or rose gold plating. There are two model sizes, each in 4 colour variants – the men’s or unisex version with a diameter of 41 mm and a thickness of 10 mm, and the women’s version with a diameter of 36 mm and a thickness of 9.5 mm. The cases are fitted with the hardest K1 glass. The screwed-in watch back is made of 316L stainless steel and is etched with the two coats of arms.

The dial of the men’s/unisex version is silver-white guilloché, very finely scaled and bears the inscriptions “Dresden Green” and the Electoral Saxon coat of arms with the subtext “Königlich Sächsische Wunderkammer 1742”. The indices consist of applied Roman numerals. The highlight of the watch is a framed green diamond measuring 1.3 mm. The hands are skeletonised and diamond-cut. The centre extra-long second hand bears a crown sailor’s crest at the short end.

The ladies’ version is designed in the same way, but with a genuine mother-of-pearl dial and hands filled with luminous material. The indexes are printed in Arabic numerals. The watches are fitted with padded cowhide straps with alligator embossing or, in a steel version, with a finely woven Milanese strap (Mesh). The watch is delivered in a long green box with a golden coat of arms and a detailed 20-page brochure with a numbered certificate card and diamond passport.
